The cloud-based Aleyant eDocBuilder™ is a powerful online designer, personalization and variable data publishing (VDP) software solution that enables your customers to create and customize their own documents quickly and easily, as well as proof and approve them from a web browser. Included with Pressero, it is also offered separately on a SaaS (hosted) basis for integration into your own e-commerce storefront.
eDocBuilder web to print designer is based on the PDF open standard. You can either use our InDesign plugin to generate the templates or load your PDF documents into eDocBuilder’s online design tool and convert them to templates by defining exactly how the design template should work for your customers. eDocBuilder supports a wide variety of image types within online design templates. Supported formats include .jpg, .png, .pdf, and tiff.
The Aleyant eDocBuilder™ web-to-print design template software can create two different types of templates, form-based and Interactive Designer:
- Form-Based: Form-based templates are often used with B2B (private, corporate) storefronts where the client wants to control branding with its users by placing parameters on text and images. Placement of text and images is fixed and unmovable.
- Interactive Designer: Interactive Designer templates are often used with B2C (retail) storefront. They allow the customer the freedom to create and move graphics and text, rotate them, change font family, size, color, alignment, and layering.

Text Color Palettes: Aleyant eDocBuilder™ web to print design template software supports the creation of a library of multiple custom ink color palettes for text. Palettes can be cmyk, rgb, gray scale, and spot colors. Each text field within a template can be assigned to any one of the palettes in your library.
Image Handling: Aleyant eDocBuilder™ supports a wide variety of image types within online design templates. Supported formats include .jpg, .png, .pdf, and tiff. In addition, eDocBuilder template software provides strong support for .eps, .ps, and .psd. Templates can utilize images in a variety of different ways.
File Imposition: Aleyant eDocBuilder™ web to print design template software has a powerful imposition engine that can automatically deliver an imposed file to you when an item is ordered. The imposition system allows configuration of sheet size, n-up, trim size, bleeds, chop cuts, gutters, margins, and plex. Crop marks can be optionally included.
Form-based Features

Bar, Postal, QR Codes: The Aleyant eDocBuilder™ web to print design template software supports auto-generation and merging of barcodes into a form-based template. This enables barcodes to be automatically added to business cards, flyers, postcards, letterhead, brochures, banners, signs, or just about anything.
Field Logic and Scripting: The Aleyant eDocBuilder™ web to print design tool allows you to define logic to move, reformat, and suppress text and graphics as needed for forms-based templates. This is essential when creating design online templates that must adhere to your client's design standards.
Response Sets: For some web to print online design templates, your customer may need the simplicity of having certain text and/or images entered based on a selection they make from a pull-down menu.

The design template shows the user a proof of the first 5 instances of the sequence. For example, a raffle ticket may require a unique number on each ticket.

Element Manipulation: A web to print design online template is composed of text and image elements. The simplicity of an Aleyant eDocBuilder™ Interactive Designer template makes it easy for a print buyer to change, customize, and personalize these elements on a print item. The user's cursor indicates what action is available as they hover over an element on the template.
Layer Navigation: The Aleyant eDocBuilder™ layer navigator displays all the text and image elements that are part of the online design template. Each page has its own layer navigator, and each text or image element has its own set of control options. Simply click an item in the layer navigator to open its controls.
Multi-Page Viewing: Templates using the Aleyant eDocBuilder™ Interactive Designer software display page thumbnails at the bottom of the canvas. The thumbnails are a small preview of each page in the template. They help show the page you are on in a multi-page design template.
